When my brother asked me today how the road trip was going, I knew it was time to post an update.
Chris’ mom, Wendy, flew to Alaska to help us move. She and I took turns driving for four days until we reached Oregon. We spent two nights there, visiting with my sister-in-law and her family. Then we drove for another day until we reached Idaho.
We’ve been in McCall, Idaho, since Tuesday. It is a beautiful, little town in the mountains. We have really been enjoying our time here. We’ve rented a little house to stay in until the end of the month while we decide if this is where we will make our new home.
Our first stop was the Farmer’s Market, where we found ourselves captivated by the peaches, plums, grapes, apples, and melons. It was a fantastic way to start our exploration of the town.
We see deer everyday. They come into our yard and wander freely in little herds. The trees are big and beautiful, and the huge pine cones make Glory happy. Grace loves to see all the dogs walking around town with their owners.
People are friendly here. Being a bit over-tired and over-coffee-ed, I find myself talking to everyone I meet, and they all respond with smiles.
Chris and Gunner are still in Alaska, but they will be joining us soon. If they love it here, too, we will be staying.
